Karpuzlu County has earned the title of Municipality in 1971, and County in 1990. The county’s development process is a slow one, because of the communicational and economical impossiblities along the years. But its unique historical beauty has always put its name forward. Also it has a close connection with Alabanda and Labranda ancient cities located in its neighbours in Cine and Milas Counties respectively. Local governments have made great efforts to strenghten this tie and historical tourism in this region, but these were insufficient because of the lack of interest from the central governments. We recommend everyone, who is interested in historical tourism, to see these ancient three brother-cities.
